"Ode to Mr.Og"

I remember the day you were born...

A sister I wanted, for I had sworn you would be a girl not a boy!
To have you as my sister is truly a joy...

Someone to depend on & spend time with...

Even if you're no longer a Smith!
I'm always there...

to share my clothes...& help you know what not to wear!

You may have gotten the 4.0 at Baylor after three years,
But one thing remains clear to me...

I am the older, wiser sister & always will be!

Although I must declare, it was not so wise to chop off our hair!

We've traveled near & far...

Paris, Africa, there we are!

We even saw it with our 'maw' ( cheesy I know...stay w/me)

Lions & tigers & zebras oh my...

I'm glad you were there by my side!

And even though I was sad to go...

I'll be home soon, don't ya know!

Happy 23rd birthday Morgan! I miss you & wish I was there to celebrate with you! Have a GREAT day & I will see you SOON!

love, linz
*To those of you wondering "Who is Mr. OG?"
One time Morgan was instant messaging my cousin & mis-typed her name and wrote mrog instead of morg(an) and my cousin asked "Who is Mr. Og?" and it has stuck ever since as a nickname. Thanks Jakob, Jill, & Matt!

  1. if you grow weary of teaching, you could always write birthday/anniversary/etc. poems for people for pay. very clever ode to mrog.

  2. Oh Lindsay, this made me cry! Having a sister is such a blessing, I can't imagine my life without mine! Or Laney's, I hope she gets to have one too someday! You are too creative!

  3. this is probably one of your best efforts......
what a blessing to see you and mrog grow up to be best friends. there were times when i thought that might never be....usually they involved 'wardrobe' issues........

  6. The poem is beautiful!...but the nickname is the best. We love our Mr. Og, but maybe we should update it to Mrs. Og!!!??

We love and miss you Linz. We are excited to see you Christmas. Travel safely...
