Mozambique Musings

Saturday we went to the Saturday Market in town. IRIS usually always takes visitors so they can do some souvenir shopping in the city. There are many vendors with beautiful hand-made pieces. It is overwhelming your first time because they will follow you around saying "good price for you" or "i make special price for you". Usually their asking price is high so you have to bargain with them...and sometimes you just have to walk away. I have been several times & I am getting better every time! I still prefer to just look at a price tag and not bargain w/ someone about a price! Pascoal, Valdimar, & JJ came along with us. They are very helpful with the shopping & talking to the vendors for us. They usually know what a good price is or what something should cost. Afterwards we went to SURF, a restaurant near the ocean. I know it seems like I am eating out alot, but this weekend has been full of celebration!! Katie was able to join us for lunch & got to meet everyone. She rode back to the center with us and stayed the night. We had an extra bed in our room so it worked out! She loved the kids and we had a great time playing with them! She has heard me talk so much about the orphanage so I was glad she got to see it with her own eyes! They kids loved her of course!
