girls just wanna have fun!

This past week I stayed with Katie at her house. The lady she lives with was gone all week so I stayed w/ her so she was not home alone. It was fun just having girl time! Tuesday we ran 3.5 miles and then had bible study. I really love my bible study group. We just finished studying James. After school on Wednesday we walked home-about 3 miles- and stopped at a bakery for fresh bread and a cold drink for our afterschool snack & bought 2 dvds off the street to watch on our day off! We went to an African Dance class that night with Lisa...and um....it was bad. Well the class was not bad, but I was way bad!! They can move their bodies in ways I did not know was possible! But it was fun to see an african dance class...i don't think i will be going back...i just don't have it in me. We picked up Sabina to join our slumber party that night and headed back to Katie's house. To make ourselves feel better about the lack of dance skills we have, we made choc.chip cookies! haha...although they did not turn out that great. The brown sugar here is different and i think that was the problem. Then we watched one of our street dvd's at Henricks-'Reign Over Me'. Great movie-i'd recommend it.

Thursday was a Mozambican holiday so we all had the day off from work. We slept late and casually got up. We walked to one of the restuarants on the beach, SURF, and ate lunch. We had a pretty relaxing day. The day started sunny and then began to rain. Katie and I napped and then went downtown to grab some Spicy Thai food. It was really good! Who knew I liked Thai food!?

Friday after school we walked home & got some KingPies (pastry w/ chicken filling), and more fresh bread for a snack. We ate cookie dough & watched Grey's Anatamy (new season!) We then ran 3 miles and did our exercises (yea for lunges!) Then we went out to dinner w/ the gang (see pictures in 'food, friends&fun') Afterwards we watched "License to Wed" at Henricks. It was ok...a ripped dvd so not great quality. BUT...there was some excitement during the movie. The dogs were going crazy outside so Henrick(gizmo's owner) went to check it out. He then ran back inside and said "COME LOOK!" as he grabbed his head lamp and rushed out the door. We all followed...and to our surprise found an african animal in the backyard tree! (See pics) Henrick poked at it until it finally jumped to another tree and eventually left the yard. I can't think of the name of the animal right now...but i will let you know. It was in the Kruger National Park book...

Saturday we slept in LATE and had a lazy day...but we did run 5.8 miles! That night we went with Sabina over to Tom's house (also in bible study, he's british). He made us dinner and Sabina gave portuguese lessons. The whole lesson was in port. so I was totally lost... Katie & Tom have been here longer and have had some previous lessons...so I copied some notes. We then sat around and argued w/ Tom about how America was not THAT BAD of a place. He likes to give us Americans a horrible time. He has never been there though. More on that topic later...

Sunday Katie and I went to the International Church. Afterwards I met Lisa and Henrick at the Sweedish school for some tennis! Lisa played in highschool and Henrick plays as well. It was a beautiful day to be outside so I was excited to play! Hopefully it will become a regular thing! I got back to 'my house' Sunday evening and just relaxed, blogged, and talked on the phone. OH! And made some more choc. chip cookie dough w/ 'american' brown sugar. Perfection. (Notice, I made dough, not cookies...so good!)

Well, that was my week in a nutshell...i posted some pics also...but wanted to summarize my week for ya! enjoy!

  3. Sounds like life is full. So glad to hear it. Don't stay out in the heat too much. With all the cookie dough you are eating, if you are overly exposed to high temps, your insides will become one huge chocolate chip cookie!

  4. that you run so much makes me think you don't have my genes......who does that? maybe if a ball were involved.

that you love to travel, encourages me that you do have my genes........never stop - see as much of this beautiful creation as long as you are able.

that you'll never be the same gives me joy - may you have many more experiences that keep you 'never the same' - growing in better understanding of Who God is and wants you to become - woman after His own heart.

Keep sharing. we do love living vicariously
(SAT word) thru you....(morgan has my SAT gene)
But more than that, you compel us not live life too comfortably.......and self centered.

Hey,,,the photo's dont' show up...what's up with that? says they were deleted on flicker and not currently available?

and you do have quite the 'writing' gene. keep it up. we love it.

  5. I love reading the comments from your family- I feel like I'm getting to know them:) I laughed when your mom asked about the photo's not showing up- whoops:) I'm glad you blogged about our fun week because I've already almost forgotten and still need to write about it- you don't mind if I copy you do you? Your friend Rainey is right- we should be careful about running with stomachs full of raw cookie dough:) You have a gift with that dough! How on earth did I eat the entire bag in 2 minutes?? Reading about all our recent adventures I realized that I am way more social over here than in the States- what's with that? I'm glad we're friends:)
