i forgot to tell ya something SO cool and amazing!!
God is SO good!
Ok...so after we came to Mozambique last summer some of the kids would call us. Some of them had cell phones and they could buy minutes. There are not really 'phone plans' here so you just buy minutes off the street. You can buy them while in your car at a stop sign! They are scratch off cards that have codes you put into your phone. Anyways...the kids figured out that when they called any 325 area code number their minutes were not being used up! They kept telling us they could call us for 'free'. We did not really know what they were talking about, but we did know that they called frequently! Before I came I got a new phone w/international capabilities so I would have a phone that worked while I traveled and it gives people in the states a way to call me in MOZ. I also have another phone w/ a Mozambique sim card in it. It only works here though. So when i get here one of the kids shows me the 325 phenomenon! I check my minutes before calling my mom (who has a 325 number) & we talk almost 2 hours,& my minutes stayed the same!!!!! There was no trick, or secret code to punch in, you just dial and talk! So, i have been able to talk w/ my mom, dad, andrew, grandma, anyone who has a 325 area code virtually for 'free'. I was going through SO MANY cards talking to Steven and Morgan that we decided to get them a 325 phone. Mom just added them to her plan and it is only used for me to call them! How CRAZY COOL is that? I believe it is a God thing-it has allowed the orphans at the center to stay in touch with our Abilene team and has allowed me to keep in touch with my family all the way from Mozambique! I have since activated SKYPE and that allows me to talk for free too. On my MOZ.phone I have the Texas time and on my 'red' phone I keep Africa time!
THANK YOU JESUS! How Great is Our God? All good things come from Him. Even the little things like cell phones.
PS. When I return to the good ol' USA I will not take for granted cell phone services or plans...and by God's Grace not complain about them either!
I am blessed by the 325 phenomenon also. We would definitely talked ourselves and families out of house and home at the rate we were going. I hope you are so well today!! You are using flickr too. I'm so excited and proud. You know you don't have to if you don't want to. But the pics look great!
